Masturbation is Self Care


Some may wonder if masturbation is just plain out nasty or is it self care. Masturbation is the act of sexual pleasure to one’s own genitals. Masturbation is self care as well as it’s healthy. Masturbation is self care for several reasons. Let’s talk about it.


There is no risk of pregnancy or STD/STI. There are many benefits from masturbating such as: release sexual tension, reduce stress, help you sleep better, improve your self-esteem and body image, help treat sexual problems, relieve menstrual cramps and muscle tension, strengthen muscle tone in your pelvic and anal areas and as an escape.

Masturbation is a form of self soothing. It’s helps to improve your moods and emotions. It’s helps calm your worried mind.

Masturbation is empowering. It’s helps you to explore yourself and your sexual pleasures and desires. It’s help you to learn what you like and what you dislike. It makes it easier for you to be able to talk with your partner about sex. This can help you improve your image of self and body.


Masturbation helps release different hormones.

  • Dopamine, which is known as the happiness drug. This hormone is involved with motivation, movement and reward seeking.

  • Oxytocin, which is known as the love hormone. This hormone has behavioral and psychological effects. It promotes sexual, social, maternal behaviors of happiness, and supports well being, positive social integration, growth, and healing.

  • Serotonin- this hormone helps mediate happiness, optimism, and satisfaction.

  • Endorphins- are the feel good chemicals. They help to reduce pain levels. Also gives you the pleasurable rush.

  • Prolactin- this hormone promotes psychological responses. These responses are to reproduction, stress and emotions.

  • Adrenaline- this hormone helps lower stress

There are other hormones that may be released to masturbation that is beneficial to you. Masturbation is also a time to meditate and manifest.
